Local Dementia Choirs Across Argyll and Bute
The Community Forget Me Not Choirs are local, face-to-face choirs for people living with dementia and those who support them, based across Argyll and Bute.
Our sessions are relaxed, welcoming and rooted in community — using singing to reduce isolation, spark connection and create moments of joy.
Free to attend and open to self-referral, each choir offers a safe, supportive space where people can simply come as they are.

"The Choir has become a wonderful, friendly social hub for members, their partners and other family members/ carers. They not only look forward to the weekly practices but enjoy the additional events the choir performs at" Lochgilphead

Our members come from the local community. We do not ask for a diagnosis, members or family members refer themselves.
We welcome people through a wide range of sources; the NHS, key workers, social work or partner referrals, local and social media, at gigs and word of mouth.
If you are interested in one of our choirs, get in touch or come along to one of our weekly rehersals.

"Thank you for everything you do, especially for Mum and Dad. Choir practice is the highlight of their week. It's often the only time they leave home and its so very special"
Hazel relocated to Tarbert, in the west of Scotland, following the loss of her husband and several years of ill health and being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Her move was motivated by the desire to be closer to her daughter, seeking both comfort and support during a challenging period in her life. Since making Tarbert her new home and becoming a member of the choir, Hazel’s family have observed significant positive changes in her overall health and wellbeing. The experience of singing alongside others has rekindled long-held passions, helping her to reconnect with fond memories of her love for music.
Through her regular participation in choir activities, Hazel has gradually rediscovered the joy that singing once brought her. Being part of the choir has not only rekindled her passion for music but has also played a significant role in enhancing her overall sense of happiness. The support she experiences
within the choir has contributed to a richer social life, providing Hazel with meaningful connections and a renewed sense of belonging during a challenging period. As a result, the choir has become an important source of comfort and positivity in Hazel's new chapter in Tarbert.
